EU Projects

Portodimare

The overall objective of PORTODIMARE project was to provide a decisive contribution to the transnational cooperation in the ADRION area on maritime and marine governance and services, i.e. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) and, by doing so, to support the EUSAIR Action Plan implementation developing actions that are cross-cutting to the 4 Pillars of the Strategy. A key factor to reach these goals was to provide a single virtual space (a Geoportal) where most of the available knowledge and resources on coastal and marine areas of the Adriatic-Ionian Region have been made accessible for decision-makers, practitioners, marine scientists and stakeholders in general, supporting transparent and evidence-based decision-making processes. Available data, existing portals and tools developed by previous EU projects, by local and national administrations and by other initiatives have been integrated in the Geoportal to increase their availability, to harmonise information, to provide additional aggregated content and increase marine knowledge in the area. PORTODIMARE project also carried out the design and testing of advanced “state of the art” tools for mapping, analysing and managing coastal and maritime activities and for assessing their relation with the marine environment.
